RULES AND INFORMATION
EQUIPMENT: WOOD BAT & BAUM BATS ONLY ALLOWED.
CLEATS: If a venue has an artificial playing surface, molded cleats are only allowed. Turf Fields include: Hoover Met Complex Fields #2 thru #5, UAB, Vestavia HS, Pelham HS, and Mountain Brook HS.
TIME LIMIT: Each game is 7 innings or until time expires. A game cannot start a new inning after a time of 1 hour and 50 minutes. A game shall complete the current inning if the inning started prior to 1:50 minutes and is relevant to the outcome of the game (Relevancy to Winner or Loser only). Umpires are responsible for monitoring time. If the game is a tie at the end of the time limit, the game will be considered a tie, and no additional innings will be played.
BASEBALLS: Each team is required to provide 3 new baseballs to the umpire at the beginning of each game. Each team is mutually responsible for providing baseballs for the entire duration. No baseballs provided by the SCBC.
MERCY RULE
10 RUNS AFTER 4 INNINGS (The game will end if the visiting team is behind by 10 or more runs after 3 ½ innings, or the visiting team is ahead by 10 or more runs after 4 complete innings).
8 RUNS AFTER 5 INNINGS (The game will end if the visiting team is behind by 8 or more runs after 4 ½ innings, or the visiting team is ahead by 8 or more runs after 5 complete innings).
HOME / VISITOR: The home team shall be decided by a coin flip between coaches.
RULES: National High School Federation Baseball Rules will be enforced. In the event that any items are not covered in the rules, the tournament director will make the fairest possible final ruling.
HITTING LINEUP and PLAYER USE: Line up may consist of 9, 10 or 11 batters. The lineup must stay with either 9, 10 or 11 batters (whichever is used) for the entire game. The 10th hitter, if used, will be designated as an EH on the lineup card and the 11th as the XH. You can also use a DH as provided for in the NHSF rules. You can make free defensive substitutions. You can use a courtesy runner for the pitcher and catcher per NHSF rules.
GAMES: Each team is scheduled to play 5 games.
ADMISSION: Day Pass is $12. Tournament Pass is $45. CREDIT CARD and CASH only. Note that there is a surcharge of $.95 per Day Pass and $1.95 per Tournament Pass for all credit card transactions. No refunds once the purchase has been made.
INFIELD/OUTFIED and CAGES: No infield/outfield prep at any site. Some fields may allow use of cages.
SCORING: The home team is responsible for the official scorebook.
SPORTSMANSHIP: The tournament committee reserves the right to eject any person from the site for unruly or unsportsmanlike behavior. Any coach or player who is ejected for the second time during the tournament will be eliminated from participating for the remainder of the tournament.
CANCELLATION / WEATHER POLICY: No refunds for cancellation. As with most baseball games, weather could play a factor. Our goal is to adhere to the original schedule. The SCBC may shorten or cancel games because of inclement weather. By registering for this event, you agree to this weather policy - 0 games played, 75% credit for next year. 1 game played, 50% credit for next year. 2 games played, no credit or refund.
INSURANCE / WAIVER / PARKING: Each team is required to have insurance for their team/participants. Proof of insurance is due prior to the start of event. A signed waiver is also required for each organization. All individuals park at their own risk.

Hoover Metropolitan Complex
The Hoover Metropolitan Complex features 5 NCAA regulation-size baseball fields located in Hoover, Alabama. This state of the art facility was completed in August of 2018 and includes 4 artificial turf fields and 1 natural grass field. A total of 10 batting cages are located around the complex and each field is equipped with a scoreboard and LED lighting. The Hoover Metropolitan Complex is home of the SEC Baseball Tournament each May.

Joe Lee Griffin Stadium Samford University
Home of the Samford University Bulldogs, Joe Lee Griffin Stadium is a on campus venue located in the suburbs of Homewood, Alabama. The first game on the original field was played on April 14, 1958. Recent renovations include a state of the art indoor locker room and practice facility located behind right field. Other renovations include expansion of the in-ground dugouts and upgrades to the playing surface. In 2014 and 2015, the “Griff” was ranked the 23rd best college baseball stadium in the country in a ranking released by StadiumJourney.com.

Young Memorial Field
University of Alabama Birmingham
Young Memorial Field, the on-campus home of the UAB baseball team, has served as the home of the Blazers since the 1984 season. The facility was dedicated in honor of Dr. Jerry D. Young on April 18, 1985. In 2023, a 1.5 million artificial playing surface was installed including a new padded wall and dugout padding. Many renovations to Young Memorial Field are planned in the near future.

University of Montevallo
The University of Montevallo baseball team has called Kermit A. Johnson Field their home since becoming an intercollegiate athletic program in 1958. The facility has gone through major renovations this past year. Upgrades include the addition of the new team locker room located behind first base. Located just off the main campus, Johnson Field is a picturesque facility, rising above Shoal Creek, and facing the scenic UM campus. The field’s dimensions are 325 down the left field line, 350 to left and right center fields, 380 to center field, and 330 down the right field line.

Stripling Field
Birmingham-Southern College
First built in 1981 and named after Larry Striplin, Jr., a 1951 graduate, all-star athlete and Birmingham-Southern Sports Hall of Fame inductee, Striplin Field has a seating capacity of 1,000. Dimensions of the field are 321 feet to right field, 324 to left, 365 in the alleys and 390 to center.
Renovations include a clubhouse connected to the 1st base dugout, which houses the players’ locker room, in season weight room, showers and laundry facilities. Striplin Field sits in the heart of Birmingham-Southern campus.

Rickwood Field
Rickwood Field is the nation’s oldest professional baseball park. Opening its gates in August of 1910, it still contains most of its original structure. Hall of famers such as Ty Cobb, Christy Mathewson, and Honus Wagner brought standing room only crowds to this historic field in its early years. This past year, the playing surface was updated to accommodate collegiate and amateur games.

Hoover High School
Home of the 2017 7A State Baseball Champion Hoover High School Buccaneers. The complex features 2 baseball fields with a player’s locker room and indoor cages between them. The press box and concessions are located behind the main field. Hoover High School is located half a mile from the Hoover Met Complex.

Sammy Dunn Field
Vestavia High School
Sammy Dunn Field is the home of Vestavia Hills High School Baseball and bears the name of the legendary coach that once ran the prestigious program. It was the first artificial turf baseball field in the state of Alabama and was recently renovated by Warner Athletic in the fall of 2016. Sammy Dunn Field and Facilities consists of a 100% turf field, indoor and outdoor cages, two locker rooms, a press box, and concession stand. It is also the home to nine state championship teams in the 90’s.

Mountain Brook High School
Mountain Brook Baseball Complex is located in the beautiful suburb of Mountain Book, Alabama. Located just minutes from downtown Birmingham, the High School Baseball field features an artificial playing surface with a large concrete viewing stands on the 1st base side. The entire complex includes six baseball/softball fields, 3 soccer fields, and 6 tennis courts.
