ABOUT US

Torero Baseball Camps

Testimonial ~ “Coach Hill & Staff, our son had a fantastic experience at the USD baseball camp this week. He gave us a list of his favorite highlights of camp: playing games (his team was the Diamonducks), hitting drills, throwing drills, and eating lunch in the club house. I think best of all was that he had fun in a no-stress learning environment. Thank you for hosting this special camp for these young players”.

Testimonial ~ “Thank you so much for an incredible camp. That was by far the best baseball camp I have ever been to from an aspect of getting better, while learning so much at the same time. My favorite drills were the “come and get it” drill, the paddle (A-Rod) drill, and the backhand work that we did. This boot camp gets a definite ten out of ten. If you want to learn a great deal about playing infield while getting a ton of repetition with one of the best infield coaches there is, then sign up for this camp. Also, as a result of my experience at this camp I have decided to attend the USD Prospect Camp later on this month. I look forward to learning more defensive skills from you as well as have an opportunity to show you the rest of my baseball playing abilities. With that in mind, I am attaching the link to my recruiting profile for you to review. I would look forward to any feedback you might have to offer after you have watched it. I look forward to seeing you after Christmas. Happy Holidays!”

Former Torero Baseball Camps Player and Parent Testimonials

  • Hello Coach Hill,

It was such a pleasure to meet you at your ID baseball camp yesterday. From a parent’s perspective, this was different than many other camps my son has attended. You’ve created an environment that felt less stressful than other camps. I think this is important for both you as a coach, and as well for the players. They want to play their best, and you want to see these kids at their best. The coach’s interaction with these players was amazing. You/they gave praise when they watched a player do well and of course instruction when needed. My son certainly enjoyed this camp. The feedback I usually hear from him is how he did well in one are or perhaps didn’t feel solid in another area, but not much about the environment. The feedback my son gave me after this camp, was how amazing it would be to play for you. You remind him of his travel coach, who brings out his confidence which really shows when he plays, and my son strives to please him. This is not a kiss butt moment, I assure you, but there are certain coaches who can bring out the best in players because their coaching style, and that makes these players want to succeed. I appreciated your openness, enthusiasm and candor. Also, Cody Decker used to use Jukebox Hero as his walk-up song when he played for the San Diego Padres 😉

Thank you again and hopefully we see you again soon. Looking forward to a strong Torero finish.

  • Coach Hill, Thank you for a great experience at your camp this past weekend. I enjoyed the opportunity to interact with your coaching staff and to spend time on the campus and field. I really liked the energy that you and your whole staff had during the camp. The campus and program felt like a great fit for me. Please keep me in mind during your recruiting efforts and I will look for opportunities to continue to get on the field in front of the you and your staff this fall. I would love to be a part of the program and will keep working hard!

  • Hi Coach, I really appreciate the invite I had a great time. The facility is beautiful. Hopefully I can come play with you and the squad next year. Hope to hear from you soon.

  • Thank you! This is such a well ran amazing camp!

  • Thank you for running such a great camp! The boys had a blast and are looking forward to next year already! Enjoy the rest of your summer.

  • Hi Coach Hill

I just wanted to say thanks for the great camp yesterday. It was well run and I had a great experience. The USD facility and program is really outstanding.  I will send updates regarding my summer schedule as a reference in case you or your staff would be interested. Once again, thanks for the great experience.

  • Hello Coach Hill, The two day camp experience was very beneficial in my opinion and I had a great time. I learned an incredible amount about the mental side of the game through the five amazing guest speakers you presented us. My mindset has completely changed for the better and I want to thank you for that. As for the baseball aspect of the camp, playing on that masterpiece of a field is always such a great experience. I wish I could take BP on that nice of a yard every day. I had never done some of the drills in the outfield that we did, and I look forward to taking them back to school this season. I overall I want to thank you for putting together a fantastic few days, and I look forward to attending the more camps in the future and staying in contact with you. Go Toreros!

  • Coach Hill and the staff provided an amazing camp featuring excellent field drills, strength and conditioning and exceptional motivational speakers. Each aspect of the camp was professional and inspiring to the players attending My son already asked if can he go again next year! Thanks again to Coach Rich Hill and his staff.

  • Dear Coach Hill:

I just wanted to say thank you for a great camp. I learned a lot from all the coaches, and will continue to test the outfielder and try to go from 1st to 3rd, always. The individual catching drills were also very beneficial. I look forward to talking to you soon.

  • Mr. Hill:

We were both very impressed by you, your coaches and the overall camp experience this weekend.

Thank you for taking the time to do something so nice for these kids. I hope you will have more camps in the future.

I love the attached photo – and hope that as the years pass you won’t have to bend down so far when I take a photo of you and my son!

All my best – we will look forward to watching USD play again this year.

  • Rich,

My son had a great time at camp yesterday! Thank you so much for making it a positive experience for him.

  • Hi Coach,
My son participated yesterday and I stayed the whole time to watch. I was so incredibly impressed at the organization, level of instruction, camaraderie and level of professionalism that I witnessed throughout the day. I am a three-degree alum of USD but didn’t have any experience with the athletic department. Kudos for a fantastic camp! It was my son’s first and the bar is now set very high!

  • Hey coach,

We just wanted to tell you how much he enjoyed the camp. This is his second year and we will be back next year. Love to get out of Vegas for the weekend.

I’m not sure about the new contact rules but we love your program and its #1 on his list. We will do our part to bring him back next year bigger and faster.

    Take care and thanks again

  • Greetings Coach Hill,

We wanted to say thank you very much for holding such a terrific Middle School Prospect camp this past weekend. We unfortunately just confirmed that my son was playing with a double ear infection all weekend, but he still had an amazing time getting to know and work with you, Coach Ramazzotti, and the rest of the staff, not to mention playing at such a beautiful facility.

We both look forward to the possibility of our son participating in USD Prospect camps in the near future.

If you could please extend our appreciation to the entire coaching staff, it would be appreciated.

    Thanks again Coach Hill!

  • Hi Coach Rich, I went to the USD thanksgiving prospect camp and I was wondering if I can go to a Toreros game and see u again. I really enjoyed your camp it was super good catcher training and it was cool to be able to go in the lounge he field and the dugout. So if I can go to one of your games this season and say hi to you again I would enjoy that a lot. Please email me back I would love to get in touch with the USD Baseball program.

  • Great job, you guys are a 1st class club…

  • Dear Mr.Hill,

Thank you for the opportunity to show you my ability. You gave me a lot of desires through the camp to play in your team. I’m glad that I could show you my baseball skills.

I appreciate the time you shared with me. I’m very interested in playing in your team and look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you and have a great day.

  • Hello Coach Hill. Thanks for a great camp and the encouragement to keep working hard for my goal and dreams. I would love to play for you at USD. But if not still chasing my opportunity to play at next level. your youth camps were the groundwork for my work ethic thank you.

    Take care and thanks again!

  • Thank you for such a great camp yesterday! You and the other coaches provided an incredible baseball environment with high energy, great instruction and even some classic rock music for the spectators, all in beautiful Fowler Park…baseball paradise!

    Thanks again!

  • My son really enjoyed himself. We both really liked your format. It gave the kids lots of opportunities to showcase their abilities in game-like situations. Your energy and enthusiasm kept it fun and competitive. I know this is my son’s journey and I don’t want to step on his toes, but I know he is looking forward to following up with you. As a parent, who has been to a lot of camps, I can honestly say yours was thoroughly enjoyable and well run.

    Thank you

  • Thank you for such a great event. Our son really enjoyed the camp. Learned alot of great drills. What a beautiful campus and field. It was very organized and what great weather we had. Thank you again coach and hopefully our son will have an opportunity to be a team player at USD.

  • Coach Hill,
I was a camper at your future stars baseball overnight camp, the week of June 23rd through the 27th. I remember what you said about being a good teammate and that only about 50% of the campers that week would remember to tape up the nickel you gave to all of us. So I wanted to email you this picture of the nickel you gave me, because I wanted to show you that I was one of the 50% percent of kids that taped up the nickel. I can’t wait to go next year and hope to see you again during camp!

  • Coach Hill,
Thank you for running your Infield Camp this weekend. Our son loved it, and he got a ton out of it. He called his high school coach on the way home telling him about it, as he wants to implement many of the drills he learned into his teams’ practices. Greatly appreciate you inviting him to the Prospect Camp later this month. I’m doing what I can to make that happen.

Thanks again for all of your assistance.

  • Coach Hill,
I wanted to thank you, your coaches and players for a terrific camp this week, I know my son really enjoyed it and got a lot out of the experience. Best of luck to your team in 2016!!

    Thanks again

  • Coach Hill,
The other day I left a voicemail on your phone and I thought I should follow up with an email. I want to thank you for the camp that was put on last week. I was the big tall guy that goes to school in New Jersey. I got a lot of reps and instruction and I loved the talks and tips that were handed out. I put the nickel up on my mirror as soon as I got home. I am aware that next year’s class may have already filled up, however if a spot opens up, I would like to be considered for the spot. I am an outfield but am versatile enough to play a lot of positions. Thank you for reading this and I hope you enjoyed the holidays.

  • Aloha Coach Hill,
It was great meeting you and the rest of the USD coaching staff this past week. Of all of the camps that I have been too, this was easily the most well run and enjoyable.

I had a great time and learned a lot about being not only a better baseball player, but a better teammate and person as well.

I am very interested in attending USD and playing for you. Please let me know what I can do to improve my chances of one day becoming a part of the USD baseball program.

Looking forward to hearing back from you and I will be sure to keep you updated on both my academic as well as athletic progress.

    God Bless

  • Thank you for a wonderful camp. Our son learned so much. It was professional, well organized, and a great introduction to this baseball community, as we just moved here 4 days ago. We look forward to attending USD home games and thank you again to you and your team for making this accessible to everyone for sign ups etc… Happy New Year!

  • Hi coach  I just wanted to email you and tell you and your staff thank you so much for this weekend.  I feel that I had a personal bond with you and each one of the coaches out there and even some of your players. It was a great weekend.  I loved your facility and I would love to be a part of a great program like USD.

I was hoping you would be able to give me some feed back on the weekend and let me know if I may be someone that can be an asset to your team.

Your talk inspired me so much when you said that there is a school for everyone.  I wrestled and played baseball all the way up until 2 years ago when I realized that baseball was my passion even after being a two time state champion ….baseball was always on my mind.   I would finish a tournament, get dressed in the car and go out to a baseball game.

I realize that I am a little late to the baseball scout scene but I was wrestling when all the camps and summer ball was going on…but now I know that there is a school for everyone and hopefully USD is the school for me.

    Thanks again Coach Hill

  • Dear Coach Hill,
Thank you so much for hosting an amazing infielder’s camp. I fell like i really learned a lot of new techniques/drills to help me improve as an infielder and as an athlete. The drills I learned were especially helpful because it helped me realize that I wasn’t staying down on ground balls enough, and to charge every ball that is hit. One thing I really liked was the throwing program because it can help me improve my arm strength, while keeping my arm healthy.

In all, I just want to say thank you for hosting an amazing camp. I am currently working on a program based on the drills that I learned to incorporate them onto the baseball field. I believe that if I continue to work on the drills that I have learned this past weekend, I can become the best infielder (and athlete) I can be. All of the coaches I met were extremely patient and very helpful to all of the kids there. You guys at USD definitely have one of the best coaching staffs I have ever been around.

  • Good evening Coach,
Thank you for the great showcase and the opportunity to pitch in front of your staff today. I learned a lot from every coach. I will be back out in a month for the tournament there. I look forward to seeing you again. Hope to stay in touch.

    Thank you,

  • Coach Hill,
Hello coach, I just recently attended the USD Infield Camp. I wanted to thank you again for the opportunity to play at USD, and teaching us how to become a better infielder. I plan to use all of what I have learned from the camp and put it into my game. Thank you for your time.

  • Coach Hill,
I attended your most recent infield boot camp. I would just like to follow up and say thank you for such a great experience. I learned a lot about the game, had a lot of fun meeting you and the coaching staff, as well as all the other players. I am looking forward to attending the prospect showcase in December, and we’ll see you out there.

    Thanks again!

  • Coach Hill, Coach Ramazzotti and Coach Viramontes,
I wanted to thank you for the great camp this weekend. The camp taught me a lot about cutting down the distance to the baseball and closing distance toward first base in order to get the ball to the bag quicker.  One of the things I will take away from the camp and apply to my game is to attack the baseball.  I enjoyed the Jackie Chan quote too about doing a few things really well.  The camp was top notch and I will attend more in the future.

  • Coach Hill,
I just wanted to let you know I really enjoyed my experience this past weekend down at the infield camp. I loved the spin you put on things and especially the fact that you like to see your shortstop throw sidearm when he’s the “sure-man”!! I’ve always felt more comfortable that way. Anyways, I look forward to seeing the team play this year! Hope all is well and stay in touch.

  • Coach Hill,
Thank you so much for all the information and knowledge you shared at the infield camp. I really appreciate the individual feedback you shared with me and I will continue to work on my flexibility and glove presentation. I signed up for the USD Prospect Camp in December and will look forward to spending more time with you and the rest of your coaching staff. As I said before, I really love the school and the baseball program at USD and would love to be apart of it someday.

    Thank you

  • Coach Hill,
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to come down to San Diego and get some instruction from such an amazing program. I learned so much from you and seen how much more I have to work on throughout these next couple years and I’m excited to hopefully continue this process with this program. Thanks so much for having me again!

  • Thanks for the great experience coach! By far the best prospect camp I have attended. Hope to play there again.

  • Great camp. I loved the environment and atmosphere of the entire camp. I would have done this years back if I knew about it. Great exposure, great instruction, and great time playing baseball!

  • Hey coach, just wanted to say the experience at USD was phenomenal and the atmosphere of the coaches was great. I had a blast and look forward to being back in two weeks! Thank you for the opportunity. See you in two weeks!

  • We were both very impressed with the talent level of the players, and the professionalism and dedication of the coaches. We were also very impressed with the facilities (who wouldn’t be, right?). Right now, our son has the privilege of playing at the best high school facility in the West (or, maybe, anywhere), and would love nothing better than to be able to play at the best collegiate facility and for talented and dedicated coaches in the near future.

We’ve heard nothing but great things about you and your program, and you certainly confirmed all the accolades heaped on you.

Thank you, so much, for a great experience. Hope to be able to see and hear from you soon!

  • Hi Coach Hill,

I hope this finds you well. I would like to thank you for a great camp experience at University of San Diego. It was an awesome two days, full of baseball and organized evaluation. I enjoyed getting to know Coach Keegan as we were able to relate coming from Washington. He is someone that made the camp experience positive. If you have any feedback that you can share with me, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Happy New Year

  • Hey coach Hill,

I just wanted to say thank you for putting on such an awesome camp. Probably the most fun I’ve had at any kind of camp or showcase type event. Great environment, unbelievable field, fun coaches, and sound structure made for a fun camp. Keep doing what you’re doing. Thank you for the blunt talk with me after and I will continue to work even harder at my craft. I look forward to further communication with you. I’ll see you over the MLK weekend.  Happy New Years.

  • Hello Coach Hill,

I had an amazing time at the prospect camp. I thought it was very well run considering the conditions we had and was very informative and well structured. I really respect and enjoy your coaching style and knowledge of the game. Thank you so much for the opportunity to display my skill set, and I look forward to see you in the future

  • Dear Coach Hill,

I had a very fun and amazing experience at USD’s Winter Prospect Camp. The two days were filled with tons of baseball and chances to showcase my skills. The games allowed me to show my potential on the mound and with the bat. In addition, the games were also well organized and put together so each player got an equal opportunity to play in front of the coaches and staff at USD. The coach pitch scrimmages between the games allowed me to get many reps with swings, flyballs, and ground balls in game situations. The 60 yard dash also allowed me to present my speed, in batting practice I was also able to exhibit my mechanics and swing to the USD coaches as well. As a whole, the camp was great and I had a fun time playing in front of the USD baseball coaches and being able to play on USD’s facility was incredible and I also left with much more knowledge and I learned a lot of new skills with fielding my position as a pitcher. I would like to thank Coach Hill and the rest of the Torero Coaching Staff for putting together this camp and experience for not just me but for all of the other players interested in playing at the Division 1 level and my interest in USD and becoming a Torero grew tremendously after attending this camp.

    Thank you again

  • Hello Coach Hill  I had an amazing experience at your camp on Sunday and I would just like to thank you for having me. It was really fun!

  • Hello coach,

I wanted to thank you and all the coaches for a great experience yesterday. My son had a great time and I know it surpassed his expectations. To be honest, he was a little worried that he would not compete with older kids. I was really happy to see his confidence rise as the day went on and how much fun he had.

Great day, great coaches, and great experience.

Thanks again. Hope to see you again.

  • Dear Coach Hill –

Thank you for giving me a great time at the camp yesterday, I really enjoyed showing you what I can do.
I learned what you and other college coaches look for in players and I hope to have the opportunity to make a college team some day.I felt good about my skill level in comparison to other players in the camp, I know I still have lots work to do but I feel confident I have what it takes to play at the college level.
Your coaching staff was great to work with and I liked the drills coach Brad had us doing for outfielders; he said you could forward my email to him and would send me some more drills I can use on my own.Good Luck with the rest of your season!

  • Coach Rich Hill and his staff do a great job of making everyone feel welcomed and valued, from the moment you arrive, to the minute you leave. The camp is very positive, encouraging and productive. The players get a great work out, redeeming each minute, and each individual player gets specifically looked at with important and specific evaluation and positive feedback. This kind of camp helps players gain perspective towards achieving their personal goals to enhance needed improvement, in order to get to the next level. All the coaches at this camp seize each teaching opportunity to bring out the best in each player. The Torero camp provides a professional and serious collegiate scouting ambiance. The experience is certainly worth every penny. Players that experience these types of camps, cherish the memory for life! I highly recommend this excellent camp and expert staff. I played College baseball and have coached and I know a good camp when I see one. And above all, if you are attending as a parent, family or friend, it’s a beautiful location and stadium to enjoy the scenery and watch an exciting college directed, professional style, baseball workout. You won’t be disappointed!

  • Dear Coach Hill,

Thank you for the great camp on Saturday, I had a lot of fun playing baseball under the lights at your school.

  • Thanks Coach Hill. It was a great experience for my son. We appreciate the opportunity and look forward to the next one.

  • Coach Hill!

My son had a great learning experience, and had a blast, at your USD camp! His passion is learning and playing ball. Your camp provided that under your leadership, THANK YOU! It was worth the trip. This morning my son is playing in the CA World Series tournament in Irvine. Have a blessed day!

  • Hey Coach Hill,

Thank you for putting on this camp and inviting me to it. I feel as if I improved as a player and it was a really good experience. I look forward to keeping in contact with you throughout my fall and spring season. Thank you again

Thank you for the invite to the camp this last Saturday! Such a great experience, I appreciate you telling me to come out. Hope to hear back from you or your staff in the future!
